"Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.....
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.....
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy."
After 17 months of pursuing something, I came this close and....it didn't happen.
Above and beyond anything else, I am grateful for my awesome job and amazing director. I was torn in two this week, as I prepared for an interview with another district, knowing that leaving my current position would be difficult.
But---Kindergarten!!---FirstGrade! The promise of opportunity, benefits, recognition and growth potential created a powerful cocktail that left me dizzy. And, you know, the higher you fly, the harder you fall. I wish I wasn't so disappointed. To try snapping out of this funk, I've buried myself in a Young Adult novel ; behold, I find wisdom in a passage quote from The Desiderata.
"With all my broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world." The passing days will make me older, but, hopefully, wiser. This year will not bring increased monetary riches, but, will definitely provide an abundance of four-year-olds' laughter.
"...no doubt, the universe is unfolding as it should."
